Description:

Recent advances in CAD/CAM technology and ceramic materials have increased the restorative options for dentists and ceramists.  This lecture will present techniques for treatment planning, material selection and esthetic management based on anecdotal and research material over the last 20 years.  Determining the correct material choices for fixed partial prosthesis, the ideal location protocol and the types of cements that will effect greater long-term outcomes will be covered. 

The preservation of tooth structure and its effect on material choices for long-lasting results will be examined and categorized in an easily understood decision system that can minimize remakes and patient discomfort and maintain profitability.  Attendees will learn how to choose between minimal and maximal reduction; how to predictably restore zirconia materials; the effect of prep shade in ingot selection; how to select fixed partial prosthesis materials and where to place each material; how to understand the interaction of different ceramic materials; and how to select cement for ease of use and consistent results.
